The Engagement

The Story

We were engaged on June 14th. It was also flag day, so it's easy for us to remember. Whenever we think of flags we think of our engagement. The question was popped at Minnehaha Falls. The answer was yes . . . so everything is cool. Afterwards we had ice cream at Dairy Queen. They did't have a chocolate and vanilla swirl machine, just chocolate and just vanilla.

Carmen had just returned from China (pictured above left). Her time away gave David some time to find an engagement ring, get all nervous about it, and spend some time being lonely. Plan A, consisted of the question popping at the Airport. Many of David's friends assured him that this was a terrible idea. Plan B, consisted of slipping a ring in the luggage for Carmen to find as she unpacked. This, as was suggested by many, was also a horrible idea. Fortunately, the threat of trans-continental bed bugs, quarantined luggage, and a case of "I've got a bad feeling about this," nixed the idea.

Plan C, turned out quite nicely. David asked Carmen where she wanted to go on the morning after her arrival home. She said Minnehaha Falls. They went for a walk, the moment was right, awkward words were said, and now they are engaged.
